We offer six major rehabilitation programs, based at the
Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston. Each rehab program is interdisciplinary, bringing the skills of a team of rehabilitation specialists to bear on the unique needs of each patient.
(More about your rehabilitation team) Our programs offer rehabilitation in the following areas:
Amputee and Vascular Disease Rehabilitation. The Amputee and Vascular Disease Rehabilitation Program treats patients recovering from loss of a limb, those with vascular disease, or those recovering from vascular surgery. The goal of the program is to restore functional independence at home and in the community. Patients receive comprehensive, multidisciplinary rehabilitation management as well as intensive medical care for associated medical problems, including cardiopulmonary disease, diabetes, chronic renal failure, neuropathy and several other conditions.
(More...) Brain Injury Rehabilitation. Spaulding is a leading research and treatment center for traumatic brain injury (TBI). The experienced clinicians in our Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program treat individuals recovering from open and closed TBI, anoxic or hypoxic encephalopathy, and aneurysms, as well as coma-level and coma-emerging patients. These patients need intensive rehabilitation to confront major physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges.
(More...) Child and Adolescent Rehabilitation. The Child and Adolescent Rehabilitation Program treats children of all ages, from infants to young adults. Our pediatric rehabilitation specialists work closely with the child's family to plan a comprehensive rehabilitation program tailored to the child's needs. Typical diagnoses include amputation, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, motor development deficits, premature birth, spinal cord injury, or traumatic brain injury.
(More...) Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation. The Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Program offers daily medical management, rehabilitation, education and psychological support for patients with traumatic injuries, multiple fractures, joint replacements or reconstructions, metastatic bone disease, or nerve entrapment. These conditions are sometimes combined with other major health problems such as arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes, cancer, vascular, cardiac or pulmonary diseases.
(More...) Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation. The Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Program provides a safe, structured, caring environment aimed at maximizing recovery from spinal cord injuries (SCI) whether the result of traumatic injury, or of illness such as polio, spina bifida, or Friedreich's Ataxia. Patients have responsibility for directing or performing their own care, which in turn, helps them prepare for independent living.
(More...) Stroke/Neurology Rehabilitation. Spaulding is deeply committed to researching and advancing the field of stroke treatment and rehabilitation. We are a regional leader in the care of the young adult stroke survivor. Our Stroke Rehabilitation Program offers comprehensive, intensive rehabilitation and medical management to individuals recovering from the effects of stroke, and helps them achieve their goals for improvement.
